The Auditor’s Building, now functioning as the headquarters of the U.S. Forest Service, is another historic landmark building. This large brick office building with a brick tower sits just north of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum at the intersection of 14th and Independence Avenue. Because of its multiple office floors, it would be difficult to convert this building into a modern museum. Like all of the sites in this report, it has been listed as the site of a future museum. It sits within a few hundred yards of the Washington Monument and overlooks the White House.
